AR-15 = Loud, nice kick, decently accurate. Sitting.

AK-47 = Surprisingly not a lot of kick, not too accurate (probably me), loud but not unbearable. Standing.

Browning? 30-06 = LOUD! Accurate, nice kick. Not a plinker hehe. I was sitting.

Various shotguns = All of them just about blew off my shoulder. All I know is it still hurts. I believe they were 12 and 16 gauge. One pump, one single. All standing.

.38 spl revolver = Nice kick, pretty loud, revolver too small for me; felt like it was going to jump out of my hands. Standing.

.357 revolver = Not a lot of kick, felt more controlled, not too loud.

.40 (XD pistol) = Probably my favorite of the day. Everything felt perfect, I could shoot fast or slow and felt in total control. Standing.

30-30 = Fun to shoot, hurt the shoulder a little, too hard to load lol. Standing.

.22lr (Ruger 10/22) (Mine) = Way too whimpy haha! Put maybe 700 rounds through it today, decently accurate out to 175ft. Almost no recoil with the mods installed, could barely hear it with ear plugs. Standing/squatting/sitting.

.9 = Less kick than the .40, which made it feel a little too "easy". Quieter too. It was a Ruger, felt funny in my hand. Standing.

I probably forgot some. I'm still pretty new to guns in general, and I either remember the gun or the caliber...usually not both. My first time shooting any of these guns, and my first time at a "real" gun range.

I'm really liking the XD after shooting it. My boss took me and some co-workers out and pretty much just handed us ammo and guns. At the end of the day I ended up only spending $10 flat. I probably threw a couple hundred bucks worth of ammo down range. :eek3:

Glad you had fun, hopefully you'll be buying one of your own soon!

(also don't tell people you think an ar15 has "kick" or they'll take your man card)

 Glad you had a good time.

Check out the new XDM. I didn't really care for the original XD but the new one looks pretty promising.

the 30-06 kicked less (to you) than a 16 gauge? Is it just me or does this not sound right? I have shot both, even back to back and the 16g didnt bother me at all. A few rounds of 30-06 and i was feeling it!

I shot my Dad's Remington 700 in 30-06 right after I shot about 15 rounds out of my M44, It was like going from a shotgun to a 22.

Going from my .22 to the AR15 was probably why I felt it had more kick. Although hitting a baseball with a wooden bat is probably more "kick" than my .22 lol.

I've been an NRA member for a few months but never received my membership package. I tried calling and never got through then I emailed and after a few responses they stopped responding all together.

If I have time later I got pics/vids of some of us firing. I'm on my phone at work now.

everything he listed will kick more than an AR. Yet he comments that the AR had a heavy recoil :hsugh:

No, it just looks like people like to put words in my mouth.

I said it had a "nice kick", not a "heavy recoil."

Maybe it's because I shot it after shooting the shotguns, my shoulder was already sore so it felt like it hit harder. :dunno:

Here is my friend Chris shooting a slug out of the 12 gauge haha. His first time, much like mine.

  25. Jesus. Slugs aren't that bad.
