During the engagement shoot I did, I found myself running far ahead of the couple, or dropping way back, to the side, and sometimes climbing on things. Most of all because I'm pretty tall (6'1), I always find myself crouching in odd ways to get to the couples' eye level.

As far as I can go without people thinking I got mental problems.

If your cameras big enough and you look like you're suppose to be there, people will let you do just about anything.

I've actually noticed that too. Though I don't shoot too many events, it's handy to have a "pro-looking camera": and now with a nerdy photo vest, I'm unstoppable muhaha :mamoru:

Nah, I had some people walk in front of my shots. Given I am in street clothes, but I did have a gripped camera with a 70-200.

Most people were respectful enough to wait though.

I lay in the grass, climb on fences, clean up cobwebs, I've even gotten into a nasty water hole.... I'll pretty much do whatever it takes to get the shot I am envisioning.

I shoot 'between' the shots... so sometimes I capture something I wasn't meant to capture but looks great. Laughing, joking, hug, kiss on the hand that wasn't meant to be, etc. :dunno:

But for the posed ones, whatever it takes and sometimes I even try too hard and piss myself off w/ the final product.

I stand in sub zero temps in total darkness for hours and hours while tweaking mount tracking, focus, clearing dew with dryers, etc. Calculating stuff then I have to sit and watch a computer process hundreds of frames into a single file which takes from 10 minutes to 30 hours depending on the number of files and the methods used in in the process. All for a crappy out of focus shot of some distant galaxy that will never compare to what Hubble can do, but oh well its mine and thats what counts.

I was laying in the grass on my stomach today in a big field of tall grass to get the picture I wanted. I got up and found a tick on my arm :run:

i sometimes stand on wet rocks by a rough sea and fail to realise that because the rocks are wet there's quite the likelihood that the water is going to reach that level again and make me very wet. Being waste deep in water holding the tripod above my head was scary.

I'm known to get a little dirty at my shoots, but this guy at one of our meets left me standing by the sidelines:

The wind was gusting pretty good so you never knew where the spray was going and at the time I was only shooting with my D80...wasn't going to risk it.

    Stofen diffuser....outside....:hsugh:

I don't think I'd jump into a fountain to get a shot unless I had some weather coverings for the equipment....but I'll pretty much go anywhere I want in order to get the shot I want.

I'd have to see the final image to judge whether it was worth it jumping in that water like that.

So are you implying Nikon guys don't do anything like that? Or, are they way more hard core?
