    1 x 76gb SATA Raptor

    or

    2 x 36gb SATA Raptors on Raid 1

    actually, 1 74gb (they never made a 76gb, btw) is faster than a 32-bit PCI RAID-5 setup.

    The problem is that the PCI bus is limited to 133MB/s of *shared* bandwidth. Of course, things change if we're talking PCI-X or PCI-E1.
