Do they have to be the same model of router?

Right now I have a Buffalo WHR-G125 running DD, and I want to create a bridge with it, but with the Buffalo lawsuit they are impossible to find, even on ebay. So I'm wondering if I could buy and old WRT54G to flash with DD to create a bridge.

Also, is it possible to daisy chain more than one together? i.e. Can I go from the modem to one router then wirelessly to another and then wirelessly again to another?

If the software/link is set up correctly, I wouldn't think the brand of the hardware would matter. I've bridged two wireless routers before, but they were matching so anything I have is merely speculation. As far as chaining them up like you described, could you do a unidirectional yagi antenna setup instead of multiple routers?

Shouldn't matter if both are running DD-WRT (or something similar).
