"You'll know you're in competition shape when you take a flash photo of yourself without a tan, standing in front of a white wall, and look ripped anyway. Or you can use the knuckle test that Harris described:

"Pinch the skin on the back of your knuckles. That's what your entire body needs to feel like when you're stepping on stage for a bodybuilding competition. Waist, glutes, low back — everything."

Everyone in the room pinched the backs of our hands, and we all nodded in recognition. Yep, that's pretty damned lean."

Those numbers seem way too high for someone trying to lose weight. If I ate 400-600g of carbs 2 days a week and 100-300 the other days I don't think I'd lose any weight.

I've been doing exactly that - except the low days are under 70g and medium days around right around 150 - and i've been losing weight

Keep your stupid comments to yourself. If my point is not valid tell me why.

This is what Pur had me doing towards the end of my last cut:

    5 low days of: 2075 cal / 75f / 41carb / 300 protein
    2 high days of: 2200 cal / 36f / 220carb / 250 protein

Worked very, very well in that I lost a lot of fat, maintained muscle mass, and actually got a little stronger.

I'm doing what the article says too except I'm nowhere near their macros and I don't think you are either unless you weigh ~150lb...

i've never tried carb cycling. 3 high days and 4 lows to start. did it say anything about how to schedule the days?

you want the high carb days spaced out as far as possible. Do them on your heavier workout days

i kinda had a hunch that it would be like that, but i wasnt for sure if there was some kind of ancient russian secret. thx for clearing it up. im going to start the 5/3/1 tonight. so maybe next week my carb days will be training days and low carb days be cardio days.
