I don't think the govt. will allow it. It'd be too big of a company.

cingular just acquired AT&T, i don't see how TMobile could acquire it without it being a "hostile takeover".

Yeah, I didn't believe it, so to prove it to me he called tmobile......and was wrong. Tmobile is just buying some towers or something...

no, I would like to keep at least 1 provider that doesn't suck.

you can keep your verizon, sprint, nextel, and tmobile.

All the mobile providers in the U.S. buy smaller companies that still exist around in the boonies and stuff so they don't have to pay them extra when their customers roam.

As for LG phones... I rather remove my left nut with a dull rusty butter knife than use one of their phones.

if T-mobile took over Cingular which has taken over ATT...wouldn't that be considered a Monopoly?

T-Mobile is not DT... DT now owns T-Mobile but for the most part T-Mobile USA operates very independently of their parent company. As for DT purchasing another mobile provider? Not going to happen because T-Mobile USA is the only division of DT that is making any money. In Europe, they are playing catchup from their messup almost 2-3 years ago. Back in 2001-2002, there were major talks with AT&T of merging with them. Cingular was another prospect but that wasn't brought into full light. As for money... I think Cingular has the most funds and operating successful enough to pull a stunt like acuiqring at&t.

Your boyfriend probably misheard. As I understand it, T-Mobile used to share spectrum with Cingular out here. After the AT&T buyout, Cingular's crappy GSM network in CA will become property of T-Moble. "The New Cingular" will then run on AT&T's even crappier GSM network. So T-Mobile's not taking over Cingular, just their some of their network. I think Cingular/AT&T got some TDMA network in the northeast in the exchange, or something like that.

this is correct. after the merger, cingular sold its western region network to t-mobile, but they still have a leasing agreement with them I think until sometime in mid-2007. In the meantime, I believe they are trying to build up at&t's gsm crap ass network. As far as t-mobile being in a position to take over cingular.... :mamoru: . They may finally be turning a profit, but I believe 3rd quarter last year was the first time ever for t-mobile being positive. 1-2 quarters doesn't make up for years of being in the red.
