why did you need an exposure of 1/8000 for this pic? and how were you able to sync it?

:werd: You have to be using the flash off cam, and have the on cam flash set to --

He was most likely trying to overpower the sun (at least to some extent) while maintaining a thin dof...

If he let the exposure sit at default x-sync limit, which is 1/250 for 5D IIRC, the background would have been white. The girl would be overly exposed.

You meter for the sky (I'm surprised that it was 1/8000 in this particular scene, would be interesting to hear from Tits on why it was indeed so high instead of 1/2000 or so...) and with the sun sitting somewhere behind her, she will come out underexposed so you fill with your light.

Maybe tits used 1/8000 to underexpose the sky, it may not have been blue enough for his liking.

    aperture:
    f/5.6
    Focal Length: 50 mm

I am interested in what triggers will allow for HSS. I know tits uses PW but curious if there are any others that are cheaper. Poverty wizards dont work but maybe cyber syncs? PC Cord? I would think this was setup with a pc cord from his 5d to his 580 and just held for this shot?

I shot it at 1/8000 so I could get the sky slightly underexposed. I could have shot it at a lower shutter speed, but the sky would have been brighter at that given aperture.

This was shot with 1 pocket wizard flexTT5 on camera and one on the flash.

PWs can do HSS even at 1/8000?

i hear cactus triggers don't even work above 1/200 :hs:
