So, my bf and I like to take pics of us in the bedroom. However we only have about a 50% success rate. What I mean is, 1/2 the time the pics end up blurry, at weird angles, or we just cant seem to get everything in the frame. This is especially true with the ones we take in the mirror - most of the ones from his/my perspective come out ok as do the ones where either one of us is posing...

Any tips/tricks on how to get better pictures?

taking the flash off of pictures make it really hard to get action pictures that aren't blurry.
if you keep the lights on its much easier to take a picture with the flash that will make it non blurry- but you might risk getting white faces.
best bet is putting a timer on (on a dresser or something) and make sure that its aiming in the area you want to take a picture of...

    hope that helps :)

If it's blurry, the remedy is to not move the camera or use a faster shutter speed.

I guess for the angles and framing, just plan how you will be taking the picture? :dunno:

    Hope that helped.

Half good is a good ratio....whenever you are taking photos (erotic or not) you have to realize that many will not turn out well. Ask any professional about taking photos and they will tell you that even with models, they take 100 photos and a handful are useable. Taking photos is not a perfect everytime type of thing. So the best advice I can give you is have patience and understand that everything will not be perfect.

Also a bit more info would be good. What types of 'naughty' photos are you trying to take. Naughty can mean a variety of things for a variety of people. Are you trying nude shots, outfits, sex shots? What are your goals from the photos. Are you doing Erotica photography or 'dirty', etc?

I have posted a variety of photos in the Leather or Lace thread so you can have a look at those.

Umm, as you post more, I can try to provide more info, but it is difficult to provide a lot of info without more info about your two looks' and what your trying to accomplish.

DAWT... I wish I had nicer camera, maybe one with a remote. Sad but true about the 10:1 ratio for crappy to good pics. Thank god for 1gb memory cards :mamoru:

I think part of my frustration stems from the fact that we only usually end up taking 10 or so at a time, hence a fairly low return of good pics for any one photo session.

We actually do a variety, depending on the circumstances/situation. Some nude/outfit shots when I'm dressing up, and alot of sex shots too. The goals are just for personal use, we're in a LDR and its nice to have those little 'reminders' :) Its also fucking hot that I know my bf uses pics of us when he masturbates and I want him to have good pics (not that I mind him using other porn though)

Thanks! I'll have to check them out!

Yeah, I really think we're going to have to spring for a remote....I'm wary of using a timer

All my pics have been taken with a timer (private parts & leather or lace threads). I always use my tripod but I do need better lighting.

So yeah, take more photos and you will be happier. I tend to take about 40 during one time. Also, as you take more and more, you will get better at it and be able to do a better job.

If you have a good camera (and if you trust your partner) you might want to take videos of one another. If you are in a long distance relationship, him having a video of you masturbating or something would probably be nice. Plus, you don't have to worry about a bunch of photos....you just let it record.

Also, remember that you will always be far more critical of the photos than your boyfriend. Your nude/sexy/being fucked, etc is good enough for him. Guys are not as picky as women.

Now as for good photos, I would suggest looking around the internet and this forum and examining a lot of the photos on here for ideas. Sometimes when starting out it can be hard to be creative with poses and what you are wanting and sometimes the best sources are other people.

Anyway, if you are wanting anymore 'private' suggestions (I have websites, photos, etc that I would share privately, but not in the open forum) you can pm me.

Hopefully this was helpful and if you have anymore questions, more than happy to help (I have always enjoyed taking photographs :))

A 50% success rate is not that bad if you ask me.

this sounds like a basic photography question. i agree with the guy who said the more light the better. also. avoid close ups. those are always fun in the moment but come out not so great. i like high res full body shots.

the timer + tripod idea is awesome too, that way it can get both of you in it. but the whole tripod thing might kill the mood. if ur doing the sexy spontaneous type of deal then a tripod might kill the vibe

Several options to for you. Wide angle lens really helps. Not sure how wide your lens is currently or what kind of camera you are using. Shooting on automatic is pretty much pointless.

For focusing zoom the camera in and then manually focus on the subject while fully zoomed in. Then zoom back out and you should be able to stay in focus for most shots. You really don't want to hand hold a shot that is under 1/60th of a second. I would stay around 1/100th of a second on the shutter.

The real key is having a lens that has a very wide aperture, meaning that it can have a wide range of allowing light into the camera. This way if you have lots of daylight in your place you crank open the lens and use the natural light. You can also bump up the ISO on some cameras to increase how much light you have to work with.

Flash kills photos. Unless you learn how to bounce or defuse the flash, the flash will always ruin the photo. Here are three examples of what I mean from stuff I've shot (none of these shots are work safe):

Photo with Flash - the flash overpowers the shot because of its harsh direct light and causes aspects of the shot to go out of focus:

Photo with no flash using only natural light - I opened my aperture and bumped up my ISO so I could make use of the daylight coming from window behind me - shooting this way tends to give more shadows:
    http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2356/...f9691bee_o.jpg

And finally photo with bounced flash. The Flash is hitting the ceiling which creates a soft diffused light source:

you can get consumer grade digital cameras with built in wide angle lens. Granted it won't have a large of depth of field, but it will help frame the shots.
