I took my 20d to the beach today for the first time, and the results were alright but not great. It was a really bright usnny day, so I was having some trouble with the metering. What are some tips for getting good results at the beach? Thanks.

Or a CPL, you should have one all the time in really bright conditions

shoot in M, assuming its nice out, exposure won't change. Sunny 16 (1/iso = ss, f/16 aperture or equivalent exposure) underexpose by a 1/3 or so, no cpl even needed.

fill or reflector maybe needed for people

avoid shooting people when they are squinting from the sun

I shot a lot of pics one time at the beach and used a CPL for all of them... they turned out pretty well, and the colors popped. It was nice shooting against the water too, no glare. Unfortunately i was still learning the camera and ended up having it set on iso 800 so all of the shots looked a little soft.
