GUN Tinfoil Hat Time... How Many Mags is "Enough"?

Discussion in 'On Topic' started by Market Garden, Oct 30, 2008.

  1. So I've had my tinfoil hat on the last few days. Currently I have 5 30 round PMags and 9 30 round USGI mags. I was thinking of picking up a bunch more mags. My question is twofold; first, how many mags is "enough" if you know what I mean, second should I get more PMags or stick to the USGIs? My thinking on question 2 is that since there have been many millions of USGI mags made, it would make sense to stock up on them as parts will be easier to find in the long run.

    What says WMD?

FWIW, the only mags I have are USGI, and all of our mags at the PD are USGI :dunno:

Why pay more if you don't have to? :dunno:

For long guns personally I like to have atleast 10 mags per rifle on hand.

As far as pmags vs usgi :dunno: pmag's are more solidly made, but USGI's aren't terrible. In either case I'd keep a few spare parts on hand.

Most of my AR mag's are USGI 30's and 20's but I do have a few other mags too..

I'll be happy when I have enough for me, my future kids, and some to sell when they're 4x as much

  6. Where's a good place to get them cheap online? My searching skills are pretty shitty.

Realistically you have 14 magazines. If half of them are damaged, lost or nonfunctional, will you need more than 7 mags? It seems like enough to me....

I think people go a little overboard with the stockpiling.

If I only have 7 mag's I'll probably have to waste time reloading them at the range, so yes I need more then 7.

  13. Yeah, but I only bought 5 of them, and if I can pick up a few more @ $10 then I figure why not. I can always sell them later if I want.

Ymmv. I actually like to take a little break while shooting. Stripper clips and a strip lula would provide quick reloads if you were impatient.

Don't get me wrong, I feel the urge to buy more too but I think its just my natural tendency to have way too much of everything. :big grin:

Do they ship to CA? I doubt it, but if they do, I'm going to get a few to make some 10/30 mags that can be re-converted to 30 rounders if SHTF.

For an extra $3 per mag you can have them disassemble it and send it as a "repair kit"

IIRC it has to be permanent modifications if you're going to do that.
