I am about 5'11", 25 years old. January 1, 2009 I weighed 165. Today I weigh 146. I run 5 miles a day, and lift 4 days a week. My main goal is to get very low body fat - and get a flat six pack by the end of 2009. I have kind of been watching what I eat - but not good enough. After work today, I am going to the groccery store and beginning my healthy eating habits. I am going to try to do the 5 small healthy meals a day routine. Any pointers you guys want to give me before I begin? It would be greatly appreciated.

I kind of regret not taking before pictures, because so far ive made really good progress. i mainly want a runners body, but i want to be a bit more toned then a lot of them are. i drink a protein shake after working out every day. anything else i should be doing? i focus on one area each day of lifting.

yea, i am pretty skinny. i dont have the lean body i want though, and i know running will accomplish that, with a healthy eating routine and lifting of course.

    No.

If you are 5'11" amnd 145 you don't have abs because you have zero fucking muscle mass. I was there once but I had abs because I had muscle mass which running WILL NOT BUILD. Get your ass in the gym and starting eating a lot of meat.

Im lifting pretty heavily. I'm not just stepping in the gym and doing random things for 30 minutes. I have an arm, leg, back, and shoulder workout, and it generally takes me almost 2 hours to do each. I might have small mass, but I am not weak. you can't tell me i can't have abs by knowing my weight and height. i'm not as weak as you're making me out to be. once i lose the fat on my stomach i want to lose, then ill start focusing more on weights. but until then, you can't tell me i shouldn't be doing cardio. my arms, legs, etc are very lean, but my stomach can improve significantly. i am not going to build abs under my fat.

Listen carefully. I started out at 5'11" and 145 so I know what the fuck that looks like. To have abs you must have muscle mass and if you are that small already and you don't have abs then you don't have any mass. Go ahead and post a pic if you think you can prove me wrong.

Also, if you are spending almost 2hrs in the gym you are spending way to much time.

You can do whatever the fuck you want buddy but I suggest you take the advice from the people in here who have been there and know a bit more then you do.

Cut back on the cardio and lift more.

so you're saying in order for me to get a six pack (also cutting all the fat), i should run less and lift more? if you think lifting and doing abs is more important than running for this, then i'll take your opinion in consideration. i've always read that doing cardio is the best way to get rid of the fat in the hard to get rid of fat places. i realize im skinny, but the only place im not really skinny is my lower ab region. if i didn't have that fat problem, then i would definitely be focusing on the lifting.

i appreciate everyone's opinions, but remember, i said i mainly wanted a runners body with a bit more mass than they usually have. i don't want the typical big mass body like most of you guys probably have.

of course this accomplishment wont impress anyone here. oh well. im proud of it.

i would def listen to GTlifter man he's not bsing you. Mass cardio is the mistake most girls make, you don't realize it but if you do high reps and low breaks (look into purs routine if you want nice abs and to add mass) you will burn a lot of fucking fat just because its demanding on your body... Try to do pur's leg day with 60 second rests going to failure at every exercise (last set or two) and tell me you won't be sweating your balls off

and forget the short term goal of having "a six pack" :ugh: when you start doing deadlifts and squats and work on your abs twice a week they will start getting visible fast
