I would like to make a new webpage. I want to make it look very professional, but it will just be an info site about me with a link to my blog, pictures, contact info, etc.

How do most people make webpages now days? Should i be learning dhtml, php, or anything of the like? Graphics still done in photoshop, or graphic free? Got a good link to a tutorial? I can make one in html, it's style that i'm clueless over.

    Page's i like:
    http://www.sterlet.com/ -php

    Page's i'd like to avoid:
    http://users.frii.com/gosplow/cgsa.html
    http://www.deadlounge.com/poetry/poems.html
    http://www.alexchiu.com/

just use HTML....i wouldn't worry about PHP unless you can take the time to learn it.

search for free templates. that's a good place to start.

I am a computer science major so i'll have to learn it at some point, but does it really make the page look any cleaner? Where would be a place with nice templates?

I use simple HTML and CSS. I also use a little PHP but mostly just to include header/footer on each page.

Slim and sexy. It reminds me of the hokey-pokey, in that it makes me want to put my whole self in it. :big grin:

EDIT: What did you end up using to write it? Just notepad.exe, or something fancier?

I was actually going to suggest dreamweaver. My boss loves it. But you got your site up and running before I thought to make the suggestion. :bigthumb:

Oh, dude, you better pull that THG link off your website if you ever want respect 'round here. THG gets burned in effigy on a fairly regular basis in this forum.

On a lighter note, I'm curious; does your website have any server-side code, or is it all client-side? That is to say, are there any ASP pages and the like?

lol, i like THG because it has awesome tutorials about how to make random shit(see projector tv out of old LCD monitor and a overhead projector, like from school). I don't use it to prove my intel > amd :p

I don't have any asp yet, I do hope to (though i'll probally go with php). I'm trying to build my schedule where it can rip it out of outlooks file and then serve it up. Any other ideas of what i'd want to use it for?

If you want to serve out a schedule calendar, then you could either spend lots of money on Microsoft Sharepoint or you could use Rainlendar Server for free. Go here: www.iki.fi/~rainy This is an awesome program.
