I have a TiBook, 1 GHz G4 with 512 MB of ram, and it's running Panther. I'm going to replace it within the next few months.

Someone is selling Tiger in the yard sale forum for $30. Should I get it? I mean, the price is good, but I don't want to make my laptop any slower than it already is, and I am having trouble thinking of a feature in Tiger that I really need on here.

Everyone I've seen said tiger had a nice performance improvement over panther. Definately upgrade to a gig of ram. But it should run fine on that 1ghz G4. I know people who run it on G3's.

The ram is 2x256 so to upgrade I would have to replace both sticks... that's not going to be worth the money when I'm going to get a new machine anyway.

No one is really addressing my question, but maybe I wasn't very clear what I wanted to know.

WILL TIGER RUN SLOWER ON MY G4 TIBOOK THAN PANTHER.

10.4 actualy ran better on my G3 400, than 10.2 did. Much smoother.
