    there's a 200 lbs douchebag bluebelt at my gym who likes to dig his elbow in your face/neck from top and side mount.

    is that a dick move or not?

    using his elbow to push/smush down your face/neck so you can either tap out or give him an arm. it's not a strike

    this is legit. sometimes i strangle people from the mount with both hands to get them to do something. seriously its fair game as long as you dont jam a single finger in there.

    yeah see... thats what im talkin bout. in jiu jitsu you can always put pressure on someones face with your forearm or hand. nothing wrong with it. it's great for getting a reaction.

    its only stupid if the person just grinds their forearm in your face all day and night for no reason

    . I thought you were being serious.

    Look at wrestling or judo.

    When a person turtles in judo and doesn't give you access to their lapels the good judokas make like a driving fist with their first knuckle and rotate into the persons neck where they are turtling to get them to loosen up and get a hold of that lapel.

    Another favorite is if they turtle on their hands/knees in a ball, grab the belt while straddling them from behind, yank up towards you explosively, and slam hooks in. Won't try to turtle you again like that. Lots of moves also some rolls or mini throws to un-turtle them.

    In wrestling you pressure a persons neck with your forearm if they are using the neck to block their arms. Same difference.

    Stalling = pressure.

    note: most of the anti-turtling techniques im talking about are geared towards judo where if you don't make an advancement in the naewaza (ground fighting) situation, you will be stood up and lose your advantage, so turtling is effective.

    I understand not the same in bjj.

    this. its one of the first basic moves i learned in wrestling. when you mount someones back and they tuck their arms you give a forearm to the back of the neck and they will reach up which opens up a half nelson :dunno:

    dont know how that translates to bjj though and your certain situation

    my instructor has a very grinding style so we pressure with whatever we can.. head, shoulder, elbow, knee, whatever... not really a dick move unless you do nothing but grind with no intention of setting something else with it.
