THRESHOLD - New Friday Show created by Star Trek producer Brannon Braga

As a writer and producer for several STAR TREK movies and series over the past 15 years, Brannon Braga is "mother's milk to the fantasy crowd, and they will lap up any opportunity to talk to him," says Rich Heldenfels at the Akron Beacon Journal.

STAR TREK is centuries and light-years apart from Braga's new THRESHOLD series. "It's very different to be doing something from the very, very beginning, and something set in the real world, where you can be mindful of making it more realistic," said the executive producer and scribe. "And, in turn, I think scarier. We want this show to be terrifying.

"I like scary," says Braga. "It was always hard to do scary on STAR TREK. They're in outer space. They're 400 years in the future. They see scary stuff every week. So it was hard to get that human response.... If it's in your kitchen, it's a whole different ballgame.

"STAR TREK had become second nature to me. It was in my blood. It was a lot easier to come up with story lines, and know how they should flow. This is very challenging."

Are there moments, Heldenfels asks, when the THRESHOLD showrunner thinks, "That's too STAR TREK"?

"Yes," said Braga. "In the pilot, and throughout the series, there's this alien object. We decided to be very selective about how much we showed. In this show, we feel less is more. We're not ever going to show the aliens. We're not going to do dudes with rubber heads. We're not going to do CGI creatures. We want the alien manifestations to be more sideways in nature."

So much for what we won't see. What's he after, then, with this new series?

"Our goal is to scare people on Friday nights," specters Braga. "Have a couple of real good scares every week, so people can say the next day, 'Did you see THRESHOLD last night? Holy [bleep].' "

Spook the complete report in the Akron Beacon Journal.

THRESHOLD premieres September 16 at 9pm on CBS

I'll give it a shot, as long as it doesn't conflict with BSG.

I think I saw the last few minutes, just by accident. Looked a little X Files to me, but I didn't know what I was really seeing.

This weeks episode was kinda boring, but it'll pickup soon. Unless Brannon Braga turns it into another Star Trek Voyager :hs:

He needs to give Data more action!

This show is still on :eek5: Skyone has been airing it. I don't know if they are airing the remainder of the filmed episodes or they bought the rights and are continuing production. But there has been at least 3 episodes since CBS dropped it. I just watched episode 10, it was pretty badass.
