i might have to call bs on this guy, i understand 11b's can't spell and shit, but i've never heard an infantry guy say a team in my life. but i must agree about the drinking thing, they trust you with alot of shit in the military no matter what your age is but they can't trust you with a beer. and btw i'm not really sober right now, so if i sound anything like dark don't blame me

Too many of them would get in more serious trouble than they are worth if we opened the beer gates wide for them.

I'm just saying, from my experiences as a teen, too much liberty at too young an age is not necessarily the best thing that can happen to you.

I can't comment, I didn't drink alcohol as a teen. I do agree with your opinion about too much liberty, however kids 18-21 that join the military don't have the same liberty as civilians their age, and some sort of exception should be made.

No, I haven't thought this through, I'm merely commenting that exceptions could be made. Something along the lines of some 15 year olds being able to get their driver license's early for hardship reasons.

Well how about this, say we gotta go on some exercise where i need two mini guns, so we grab some 19 year old kid to come along. Said kid busts his ass all day, helps with the bird, does all kinds of shit he doesn't need to do, but just wants to help out. at the end of the day though i can't take him out with the rest of my crew because he isn't old enough. I don't know if i made this clear before, I drink with my crew all the time, officer and enlisted.

I don't know. It may separate the shitbirds from the four-oh. The military thinks its members are responsible enough to decide to put their lives on the line, but not to drink?

I would heartily agree to something like that where you have a designated "overwatch" person. Something where there is a specific person that "sponsors" the under-aged drinker for the night. And I'm talking about serious sponsorship - not just another drinking buddy.

they only get in "trouble" because of the drinking age ... lower that shit ti 18 and you will have no underage drinking incidents ...

granted you might have a lot more drunks on your hands, :mamoru:

I get extremely pissed off when I here 18-20 year old kids not even in the military bitching about how "they can die for their country but can't even have a beer", especially because at the age of 20 I was already a member of the VFW and I couldn't drink there ( well not legally).

I can BS on the fact that being under 21 is stopping him from drinking.

Being under 21 the majority of those kids don't have the maturity level to handle being drunk.

Many of those who ARE old enough still act like complete idiots as a matter of fact.

Meh - the kids do okay here in Germany. I'm all for 18 y/o Driver's licenses and 19y/o drinking laws.

this is definitley an opinion based argument

mine is that, if you can get sent to war, you should be allowed to have some beers, i know plenty of people who are 21 and older who dont act any different than they did when they were 18 so i dont think worrying about people getting in trouble should be considered

everyone forgets the root of the 21 year old crap. Its so that college age students would not drink. Somewhere, somehow a bunch of old people decided that students should not drink. Personally If the law says your a legal adult at 18 then you should get all the benefits also. When I was 20 1/2 the drinking age in louisiana changed to 21. Talk about weird when you have been drinking at the bars for 2 1/2 years and then the law changes. Didn't stop me or my friends.
