HIV & Sunset Riders are both good punk/thrash bands.

You need to get into Venom, Testament, Suicidal Tendencies, I definitely second Sodom's Agent Orange, older Slayer (everything up to Divine Intervention, bust especially Reign In Blood), older Sepultura (Arise, Beneath the Remains) Kreator, Exodus, Anthrax

i really meant newer thrash bands. i'm already aware of all of the above, and quite enjoy some of them. it just seems like nowadays no one's making good thrash. even slayer has let me down with "christ illusion."

There's an article in this months Revolver about Thrash bands (Metallica, Over Kill, Anthrax, Slayer, Megadeth, etc....) There's also a list in that same issue of top (older) thrash cds.
