    actually usability is fine

    what i meant to say is i don't like the colors when you click on different sections

    i was going to just leave it white for text only pages, black for the photo, and gray for the tracks, but i wanted to tie in the page color with the colors used in the nav

    It's alright, not mind blowing. Straight to the point. Change the fanny pack colors

    The coloured backgrounds is too much. Instead of colouring the entire background, maybe just a stripe, or the heading of the page, or something.

    This. I like the color, actually. I just think it's overpowering, and looks strange only taking up the bottom of the page. Maybe if you balanced it out with large blocks of white text or graphics it wouldn't look as overpowering.

    headers tend to be static..

    there's a lot you can do with the colors instead of having the bottom portion all a color

    if its position:static

    it does not refresh along with pages when you click on links that navigate you tto another page?

    You've got a wrong understanding of position:static;

    The dault position of any item on a page is "static"

    this answers nothing

    i was asking about the static header from not refreshing along with the rest of the page when you navigate to diff pages on navbar.

    If your heart is set on changing the colors on the bottom, you could just use very dark versions of those colors so light text is still readable. White text on that lime green and pink is horrid.

    Or, like others suggested, put in a color stripe or something. (best)

    the way its set up right now is, the body css has both a background color, and a background image.

    the background image is the white part of the page. it is set to tile horizontally only. http://i34.tinypic.com/140kbih.png

    the color appears "behind" the image, and because the image only takes up a part of the screen, the color extends to beyond the bottom of the image.

    i have an idea on how to make the colors less overwhelming, but it would mean a different background image on each page

    something im not sure about is the size of the "logo". is it too big? overwhelming? i ask because im on a netbook, and the vertical resolution is at a mere 600px.

    i also havent tested it in xhtml or css validators. i did run it though that online service that displays your website in practically any browser and provides a screenshot. it did well in most popular browsers.

    what about the coding; is it semantic and elegant enough?

    CSS looks fine, HTML looks fine.

    "Result: 6 Errors, 2 warning(s)" when validating, xhtml and css are both popping up errors.

    colors should be a bit more subdued

    just a thought

    [IMG]

    you can place your copyright info in the bottom so it doesn't look like it's just floating there.

    :rofl:

    only because im an idiot

    anyway i have never been able to successfully get a footer type message to the true bottom of a browser window, without it acting up in some way

    edit: this looks promising : http://matthewjamestaylor.com/blog/keeping-footers-at-the-bottom-of-the-page

    i agree it looks like its floating though. would left aligning the div reduce this effect?

  25. Cojones

    Cojones Guest

    Left align would only push the text all the way to the left with no margin/padding unless set no?

    That link you have I believe has some unnecessary steps, you can accomplish it easily with something like this.

    Code:
    div#footer-wrapper {
    	background: url(images/footerbg.gif) #9a2828 repeat-x;
    	height: 97px;
    	[B]width: 100%;[/B]
    [B]	bottom:0;
    	position: absolute;[/B]
    }

    where height defines the height of the footer, bottom will place the bottom part at 0 meaning it'll border the very botom of the browser, position absolute will actually place it where it needs to be.
