A&P Thoughts on this D40 kit?

    Its a great starter kit, but I'd go with a used D50 over a D40 any day.

    D40 has no focus motor, therefore it requires certain lenses that can AF by themselves.

    :werd: This is probably the biggest gripe with the d40, d40x, and the d60. Without an internal AF motor, these cameras can only autofocus with nikon AF-S lenses (or other 3rd party lenses that have motors built in the lens). You can use non-AF-S lenses on these cameras, but you have to manually focus them. Nikon's always coming out with new AF-S lenses, but most of them are expensive (or at least for me they are :o).
