Not bad. Try to get a better motherboard. Asus is good.

Where's your case and power supply?

LCD is a no-name. consider something decent.

    Optical drive is crap. Plextor/LiteOn/Sony/NEC

HDD is absolute shit. It's a JB 2MB cache IDE drive. You'd be a fool to use that. Get a Seagate drive, or at least a JD 8MB cache sata if you have some queer affliction to WD.

The GPU makes me yawn. XFX or BFGTech would be good alternatives.

    AMD? Silly move.

I would take a MSI board over Asus, at this point, however.

Old and busted. At least get something that will let you upgrade to the upcoming 45nm chips.

    Get a P35 board.

:hsugh: I bought that LCD about a month ago. Nothing wrong with it, except that the speakers suck donkey balls, but than again, what monitor speakers sound good.

Unless you are planning to overclock, get rid of that crappy E4*** series proc and go with the AMD. IMO EVGA > * but just get a good brand like XFX, BFG, or EVGA and you will be fine. But I would def. get rid of the E4*** series unless you are overclocking.

I stand by my opinion that unless he is overclocking to not get the E4500 and go with the AMD 5000+ look at the benchmarks and you will see that the 5000+ destroys it. OCing is another story.

If the AMD is faster for the $$, then that's the one to get.

I look at it this way: When Intel last owned the cpu scene, they were raping us.
Then AMD owned it for a while, and they were raping us.
Now Intel owns it again, and the only reason they're not raping us is that the AMD line is able to be competitive at certain price points.
If we don't buy the AMD's when they're the best dollar value and AMD suffers because of it, we could wind up wishing that we had.

I just happened to be looking at benchmarks on this earlier today.

The X2 5600+ is neck and neck with the E6600, and for $80 less.

That's a pretty big difference. If you're not overclocking, like what was mentioned earlier, then the better deal is the 5600+

AMD is still competive if you aren't overclocking and aren't going for the luxury high-end. They are going for the bulk of the market, only a small percentage of users want the super fastest or know how to overclock. AMD is cutting the high end in favor of the low end to middle range, where most of the business is at.

Most of the time overclocking is a waste of time anyway. Computers aren't cars; you can't just shove more air into the engine and get more horsepower. There are lots of parts that have to have their clocks synchronized for them to run at peak performance.

    True.
But in all fairness, the E4300's cost fuck-nothing and overclock very easily to AMD ass-kicking speeds.
Like I said, if you're not overclocking then the choice is easier.
