have a chance to pick up a 229R two tone in 9mm DAK and want some input on how it feels. i've had a DA/SA 229 before and although the double action was very smooth, it was a bit too heavy for me to want it with every trigger pull. i assume they lightened the DAK double action up a lot but i just want to check in and see what people think of them. thanks.

everything I have read on them is more or less you either love or hate it.. I want to say some of the mods you can do to the da/sa you couldn't do to a DAK from what people were saying when I was thinking about getting a P220.

Sigs are easy to find used though so if a trigger is the only problem looking around to find one shouldn't take much.

    :)

Super long reset, and they don't make a short reset kit for it :hs:

I have one (a 229) and guess I'm in the "Love-it" camp. Very smooth and yes, much lighter than the DA pull on the standard SA/DA trigger. It does have a long trigger reset though. Best bet, as always, is to try to find one you can try out before you buy it.

is there a way to switch the pistol from DAK to SA/DA if i don't like it? i can get this 229R two tone in 9mm for only $500 and it's hard to pass up. i've been looking for one like this but have not been able to find it in 9mm.

    It's a pretty smooth system. I have considered a 229

Nice thing about Sig is that they are usually willing to fix it if it was their problem. Much better customer service than some of the more...German...manufacturers.

As to some of the other comments in the thread:

Light strikes: I've never had one and I have about two thousand rounds through my 229DAK. YMMV, but that's my experience with mine.

The trigger can be slow if you can't adapt to the trigger style. I've never had a problem with rapid fire on mine. I just bring my finger all the way forward to the guard instead of trying to ride it to the reset. Doing that I can get tight grouping with a speed that's only slightly slower than with my 226 (which is SA/DA). I admit it took some time before I figured it out but once I did I fell in love with it. It's just a smooth trigger it's worth the time to get accustomed to it.

I hang out there all the time. Other than the constant German slides/US slides are better debates and .22 issues there is not much bitching about the CS or the QC. Yes, there are threads here and there about it but no more than you find on any other company specific forum.

No, didn't see yours (link?) but if it had X-5 in the title I probably skimmed it.

I've never gotten to try a dak but omg that sounds so terrible, I found the reset unbearable on my 226. I don't know why sig can't make a good reset standard equipment. Glock's been doing it for 100 years ;)

I want to like sigs so much...

It's just different. Once I got used to it I started to love it. I guess it's an aquired taste.

i'm happy with it. the trigger is pretty comfortable for me. i might end up switching to DA/SA eventually but i'm sure i can get used to the DAK. it's going to be my carry piece so the DAK might prove beneficial.

You have a good gun belt right?

The best concealing holster I have is the alessi hideaway but you'll be waiting several months for it, it should be in that price range too.
