Sweet pics, what settings did you use?
got the first one in a higher res?
set up please?
i cant achieve the black background
alright time for answering some questions...
first off..setup i used: nikon d70 w/ a 60mm f/2.8 macro lens with a 1/500th shutter speed and f/32. i used the flash provided by the camera but instead of setting the white balance to "flash" i used the incandescent setting so the water would look blue instead of clear.
secondly... believe it or not this is what i used for the bowl
thirdly....black background..i used a black foam board positioned about 2 feet away at an angle. it looked blue-ish since the white balance was off so i just used the dodging tool in photoshop to darken it.
They look fantastic!
However, I'd like to see a bit more of the water. The photos seem to be cut off at the bottom..so the photographs seem a bit unbalanced- to much black.
yes, would you mind showing us the entire shots?
the white balance thing is a really good idea
I like the negative space.
first waterdrop pics i have ever liked
uhmmm..all of them except the last are completely uncropped. the fourth was cropped at the very bottom because the ridge of the bowl was showing and it was blown out...very distractive..
i thought the negative space was a good idea too?
BLK: thanks thats a great compliment
i REALLY like that first one; great pics!
nice exercise, good explanations
nice! i love it that you can see the reflection of particles in the first one.
here is my attempt
best one i could get a while back
yes, but i was wanting one 1280x1024 for my desktop at work. looks better than the black screen i have now. but if you can't thats cool.
Interesting technique!! as cliched as water drop pics are you've produced some nice pics
wow ive gotta try this
Dixie..how about I just email you the original file..I can't make the image EXACTLY 1280x1024 because the proportions will be all weird. I can either do 1542x1024 or 1280x850
everyone else: wow...i didn't really think i'd get responses like these, especially since I've only had my d70 since july.
