    Best crit ever.

Zack talks about what is really needed to step up your photo game and he illustrates just how far so many people (cough...starts with an A...cough) need to go to become a decent photographer.

I've been watching them since day 1. Give some great pointers, and looking at some of those sites, it makes me wonder if slimeball is a pro. Specially the guy in the latest critique.

I sent my site and blog to him, nothing yet. :noes:

The crits are awesome. I've just been watching them because Zack and Meg are fucking hysterical, but the advice is great too.

I'd imagine he's gotten 12908374032985701342957 sites for crit, so it's probably going to be a while before you get any feedback.

In one of the episodes, you can see his email w/ 1000+ unread emails. When I sent him mine and he was posting something on facebook, I left him a note, and he said he had 450 or so sites he had and there's no certain way of picking... rather, he said he picks by themes like the latest one. I understand where he's coming from because you can tell the theme of the critiques lately compared to the first few.

I think its great for people like him to that are higher up in the food chain than most of us here to do anything at all to help people. I think its awesome and I can't get enough of it. I downloaded his 'transform' video off his feed and have watched it 3-4 times already just this week. I have a lot more respect for people like him than I do for David Jay, Jasmine Star, and other 'bubbly' photographers that just make their lives seem like they're running through a field of daisy flowers everyday, all day. Every status on facebook is bullshit, fake, and hollow. I rather look and follow someone 'real' than any of those photogs. The bubbly ones are only good for one thing... their pictures.

I feel you on that. Photography is a job, just like any other. Sure it's fun at times, it's cool because it's not common to be a legitimate working pro photographer, and it's personally rewarding to express your personal creative vision. BUT....

It's also fucked up to have to be on location before dawn in December so you can catch morning light, then work all day at five more locations trying to keep talent, assistants and douchebag gawkers from ripping each other new assholes. Or, those weddings with the psycho bridezilla and three drunk uncles that all think they know more about photography than you do. Or, those commercial shoots where the art director is pissy because a lamp was in the wrong part of the frame and now you have to reshoot it for nothing or you won't get paid. Or...well, you get the idea.

Only armchair shooters that have never had to rely on their camera to put food on their table are under the impression that being a photographer is some glamorous jet set, rich boy lifestyle. Nope, it's work.

Guys like Zack show the business for what it really is. It's a job that can be rewarding, challenging, inspiring, crushing, humbling and fulfilling. It's also a hell of a lot more than picking up a camera and banging off 10,000 frames hoping to get something that isn't complete shit.

crazy enough, his prices are 'reasonable' for a shoot on his site. He still does wedding photography, but I'm curious how he made the cross into music photography and I already know why he's so good... so I don't need to ask that question.

He's said before that band photography is actually how he got his start, he didn't cross into it. Started out taking pics for a local band, a certain pic took off and went viral, his name got out there, etc.

make sure you guys watch it from the firs episodes. All the other ones aren't an hour long, they're considerably shorter.
