Hatchback model. Complete with dents and rust all over the car.

It seems he had enough money for a Bluetooth headset and a phone that supports it, yet not enough for a new paint job from Maaco.

This situation also equates to this house in the ghetto I pass daily with bars on the windows and enough front yard to park a car. The car parked in the yard is a 1999 Buick Park Avenue in white, jacked up with 20" chrome rims. Yet again it seems he had enough money for a baller car and baller rims but not a baller-esque "crib" if you will.

Someone explain the logic in this for me, will you?

A car is a depreciating asset (99%), some people simply view them as a A to B item.

Hell, now that I think about it, my skydive gear is worth more than my car. Car is how I get to work on bad weather days, and how I get groceries :dunno:

I'm not talking about the paint job, necessarily. The car itself was sputtering beyond belief and had a huge hole somewhere in the exhaust b/c it was loud as fuck. At least take care of the necessities that the car requires before getting some stupid cyborg looking headset.

    I caught that as well.

Honestly, I have a house, nice things in it, and drive a 97 Civic. For some of us, spending a bunch of money on a car is pretty low priority. Sure, I'd love to have a brand new fancy ride, but for the 45 minutes a day I'm in it, I'd rather save my money and put it into savings or my house payment. :hs:

You're misunderstanding my point. I completely agree with having a daily driver/beater car. There's nothing wrong with that, if it's in fully functioning order. It can look like complete dog shit as long as it runs correctly and does the job it's supposed to do.

I guess I should've put that in the original post. It wasn't really about how ugly the car was, it sounded like complete ass :o

I'm only 24, and I've already sort of grown out of my "holy shit i need to spend $35k on a nice car" phase. My next car is probably going to be a civic, even though I could go buy a new 3-series without stressing my finances at all. I want good gas mileage.

Unfortunately you're falling in to the trap of the bluetooth headset wearer... which is thinking that its somehow a 'balla' item. For reference, my ex-girlfriend's last phone was a bluetooth phone, came with a headset and a bunch of extra shit (car charger, etc), and was like $40 total. You could probably fill the tank on that piece of shit car for that price, but that's about it.

22 and would love to have a 35k car, but I can't afford it on top of the house payments and everything else. It's just not in the cards, and even if I could, I wouldn't.

Those bluetooth headsets are like 20 bucks if you don't get them with a phone.
