GUN This may be a dumb question...

    Some of you might have read that I bought a Mossberg 702 Plinkster from walmart a couple days ago... i picked up a box of Federal Hollowpoint 36 grain .22LR .... would it provide any type of power for home defense?

    just wondering.. i plan on picking up an xd9 or xd40.. but in the meantime, i was just wondering if i'd be better off throwing a 5 lb weight at an intruder or actually firing the rifle

    A .22lr is better than no gun at all.

    Point the gun, if they keep coming, shoot and then you can beat them with your rifle.

    I figured 10 rds of some .22LR hollowpoint will cause quite a bit of damage :dunno:

    I don't know if they even have enough energy to really expand. Plus the hollowpoint is really small so also not sure if it would catch a lot of stuff to make it expand.

    Depends on whether you actually hit them or not....I had a neighbor that weighed about 400 lbs. that walked around with 6 rounds of .25 lodged in his fat until the day he died.

    Know a cop who said he rolled up on a shooting scene and this big guy was walking around talking to the people. He had been shot seven times by a .22LR.

    Not sure about the whole story, but I heard that after being shot he took the gun away from the guy and pistol whipped him a few times, ended up putting the guy in the hospital:noes: :rofl:

    a .22 is a hair bigger than a BB you should shoot out of a bb gun.. if you wanted home defense you should of gotten something bigger.

    My friend was a ambulance driver and he saw a man die from a 22lr to the knee

    I wouldnt want to use .22 for defense but better then nothing, I won't use anything smaller then 9mm.. I know someone who was shot several times with a .25 he was out of the hospital like the same day.
