I hated steam at first but now I love it. And it has it's own built in DRM and anti-cheat stuff, doesn't it? So why all this extra shit too? I REALLY hate SecuROM.
So if you have a pirated copy you just won't have all of those hassles.
Steam is the win because the DRM is seamless and everything is fast and integrated. I won't buy games anymore unless they are on Steam. But Securom and Games for Windows are shitty and redundant.
Steam = Win
Securom = Fail
GFW = Fail
Gamespy = Fail
Basically, regular customers will get fucked, pirates won't care, game companies will fuck themselves over yet again, but clueless executives will get to feel good about themselves for "doing something"
Well, looks like I won't be buying it. Some companies just don't learn, do they?
And it'll still be cracked a week before release.
Meh. Only hurting/annoying the legit buyers.
It'll still be pirated.
same idea behind GTA4. Just make an offline account
And then they will blame the gamers for the pirates. And the pirates only did it because they didn't want to deal with the shit that only annoys the gamers.
Pirated copy: free and none of those problems.
I beat about 1/4 of Red Faction Guerilla without making an account but then it wouldn't let me save the game because I didn't have one even though I wasn't online and didn't have internet. I just said fuck it and deleted the shit.
I'm gonna pirate it.
I am ok with steam, its convenient. Lose the disc you can just download it.
Screw that other shit.
Steam adds convenience and speed, everything else is bullshit.
I'm sure it'll be seamless enough on Steam
I've never had an issue with any title on Steam
not that it matters... I'm not gonna play that game anyways
IMO the best form of "copy-protection" is having meaningful multiplayer that requires a legit copy.
I'm going to pirate it on the 360
too bad you can't pirate shoes
At least it has a 15 installation limit. I fucking hate games w/ 5. I actually have to crack my legally purchased through steam copy of Crysis.
lol how many fucking computers do you have
not a Bioshock fan? I thought the first one was pretty epic, and I don't typically like FPS's. Awesome storyline.
Its the fact that if you don't unauthorized it before reformatting it counts as another installation.
