I want to do a quarter/half sleeve cover up on some existing old work.. I really like polynesian/island styled work.. I prefer very solid, full work that consists of straight lines and heavy shading..

Would it be ridiculous to print off a few options and have a buddy "sharpie" it on my a few times to see the vibe/style that fits best? I have a couple ideas in mind and since the lines are fairly easy to replicate - he should be able to do this, right?

I'm ridiculous - I know. Anyone done this?

    I don't see a problem.

    Actually a really good idea.

Or just find some carbon paper and transfer it on like a stencil

I figure the only reason this would be possible is because of how basic the "work" is.

Hmph. I could look into that as well. But that wouldn't "stay".. Sharpie would give me at least until I showered (and unfortunately probably a few showers later)..

    Amirite?

I think that would work fine for polynesian work. A good idea, too.

A fucking 3 year old could have done it and it would have looked like the same garbled bullshit on your arm. It doesn't matter that your friend was an art major.:bowdown: It's a fucking ambigram. It looks like shit no matter WHO does it.

Haven't buttoned it down yet. Just google image polynesian tattoos (80% will be "The Rock" which is gay but I like his actually).. You'll get the idea. I'm running through a couple designs and trying to put some stuff together an a local Fiji'an who lives here.
