I want to buy a 70-200mm f/2.8 VR lens for my Nikon... but EVERYONE is out of them, the lens is on backorder, and nobody knows when they're going to deliver them. Word has it they're coming out w/ a new one... but I have photo shoots in the next 3 months.

I would almost consider selling all my shit and buying Canon because they're available and there's even rebates on their lenses.

B&H has rebates on theirs

I'd almost think about selling my stuff and buying Canon if I can't find one by mid April :wtc:

I've been looking that route too... but idiots on eBay want $1700+ for USED and none of the Nikon forum people want to part w/ theirs. Might have to pay a bit extra though just in case... I got a bad taste in my mouth from the last time I bought on ebay, so I don't know if I'd be willing to spend almost 2 grand like that. :o

thats probably the route I might go if I can't find one. Might have to buy the D300 before the 70-200. I wanted both at the same time... but I guess I can't have what I want all the time. :hs:

17-55 is later down the line, for now though, I've read good things about the Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 and know a friend who likes his. Plus, its less than half the price and it'll do for now.
