A buddy of mine is fighting in Feb, first fight, and its in a sanctioned show. Its gonna cost him ~$700 to get a license...between the physical, the neuro exam, bloodwork, etc...and he's fighting for $200/$200.

If they were gonna sanction amatuer events they would presumably have the same medical requirements. Who's gonna pay for all that?

I hope the reservation show isn't a thing of the past. I think its necessary for young guys coming up, who aren't really making money yet.

Is the $700 license fee a one time thing?

    .

skateboarding we used to have to register with casl and pay them to compete at contests and usually only one person won money.

IIRC correctly all the medical stuff expires after 90 days...so depending on how often you fight, you could have to put out the money before every fight. And its not a licensing fee, just the cost of doctors visits/tests required to get your license.

does he have insurance? i dont know what all tests he needs before getting a license but i can get bloodwork/physical done for like $10 right now (actually, i did 2 days ago for my annual checkup). i wonder what all is really required. maybe that neuro exam is crazy expensive.
