Apparently there are only a few (like less than 5) of the model Forester I want (08 Sports 2.5 XT) in California and they're all up in the northern part. No dealer in Southern California has one with a manual transmission in the color I want

Don't want an STI. I'm set on the Forester. And I'm extremely close to buying a one way ticket and driving home.

Ask the dealership to get it for you. If they really want your business, they will.

Or take a puddlejumper (flight) up there. You'll have alot of good road time getting to know your new car driving home.

That's what I'm not sure about. One of the guys I spoke to pulled them up in their search and told me they had them at these dealers, but didn't really go into much detail about a trade. I sent him an email a few minutes ago asking if they would, so hopefully they will :x:

Have you posted on subaruforester.org? Marin Subaru is a dealer and one of the admins, they might be able to help. They're Norcal, but who knows :dunno:

Taking a flight a big deal? Not at all. I'd have no problems doing that to get what I want but I'd rather see if I can get the ball rolling down here first.

Whatever you do, DO NOT TAKE AMTRAK.
Just buy a oneway plane ticket.
I learned this the hard way.

They'll try and pass the shipping fees on to you, easier to just go and get it direct and drive it home :hsd:

If they really want the business they'll make it happen. Just be careful they don't pass any costs on to you.

    Dark Gray Metallic

My second choice would probably be the Aspen White but I haven't seen any of those listed, automatic or manual.

Chances are they'd dispatch some $8/hr car jockey to get the car, at least that's what they do around here so they don't have to charge the customer :o

I was driven thence by foul winds for a space of nine days upon the sea, but on the tenth day we reached the land of the Lotus-eaters, who live on a food that comes from a kind of flower. Here we landed to take in fresh water, and our crews got their mid-day meal on the shore near the ships. When they had eaten and drunk I sent two of my company to see what manner of men the people of the place might be
