    I've been rowing/coaching with my hs crew team this fall, and recently I've been losing weight. Currently I'm eating a bowl of cereal every morning, some kind of sub or a couple pb and j sandwhichces and usually a box of rice a roni, or some other prepackaged pasta with a can a tuna thrown in for dinner. I typically also have a couple glasses of mil and or gatorade in a day.

    What would be the best way to signifigantly increase my caloric intake? I'm afraid that I'm mostly losing muscle too. This summer I was up to 185, today I'm almost 175. Pretty much the same body fat judging from looking in the mirror.

    You need to increase your iron intake, do this by putting a gun in your mouth and pulling the trigger!!!

    im a firm believer that its not the number of calories. but the quality.. 4000 calories of crap will make you fat. where as 2500 calories of protein and good carbs/non stat fats will help you.

    Pre packaged pasta is the devil.. IMO stick to Tuna( no more then 1 can per day owing to high levels of murcury) or Chicken.turkey and Wild rice. Green vegies are good too.

    4000 calories of crap will make you fat and so will 4000 calories of clean food if your maintenance calories are 2500

    I just looked, the bowl of cereal is ~600 calories. The Sub from quiznos was a large Black Angus. I assume it was 1200 at least. And the rice+tuna is around 900. Then all the random drinks probably make up another 500. 3200 calories. I suppose thats low considering the hour or so of fairly high intensity rowing.

    Just drink something during the workout and you're set. 2:1 carb:protein ratio, aim for 300 cals, maybe more if your training is intense or get another drink afterwards. You could just mix gatorade and whey or gatorade and bcaa.
