This is a must see movie for people born in the 80's in Europe.

This is one of the best foreign language movies I ever seen, right up there with "City of God".

It's called "The Lives of Others"

It's about the monitoring of the cultural scene of East Berlin by agents of the Stasi, the GDR secret police. It's very touching and sad to me that this kind of surveillance/interrogation of people happened during the time when I was born - Just 20 years ago. I highly recommend this film, but you'd have to see if your local video store has it.

It's funny that people make threads for utter garbage like "The Mist" and "Never Back Down". But when a true masterpiece comes along, no one cares.

And you call yourself movie enthusiasts :ugh:

I stopped reading at foreign language. Don't think i could sit through a movie listening to fucking German the whole time, language annoys the shit out of me.

Or maybe you shouldn't have named the thread "For people born in the 80's in Europe". I mean theres barely any views..The Never Back Down thread had a catchy title, UFC meets Fight Club?? Im sooo in.

And The Mist wasn't that bad.

But anyways, I haven't seen the movie although ive been wanting to check it out.

Great movie, I saw part of it in my history class last semester. When I saw it won the oscar for best foreign film over Pan's Labyrinth I was pissed until I saw it.
