    I saw a chick at the GT rec center squat 225x3 the other morning. She didn't break parallel but would pass in most meets.

    A question about squats: Do you guys always go down that fast and come back that slowly? I just started squatting and I've been trying ot go down really slow, really controlled, and come back about really explosively, to the point where I almost hop. I haven't gone past 150 pounds though. Is it safe/smart to do what I'm doing at higher weights?

    i dunno about you but to the point of hopping? I'd be scared of putting that much pressure on my knees.

    Hopping/jumping seems you would be pushing with your toes throughout the lift. Rest back on your heels instead.

    I do use my heels. I figure it would have the same effect as plyometric pushups. Am I mistaken?

    nothing wrong with squat jumps but if your regualr squat sucks might wanna get that down first
