About once a year my body starts rejecting certain foods. My diet has been pretty consistent for the past 3 or so years, 4 of my 7 meals are the exact same every day since I started getting into lifting seriously. Meal 1, Meal 2, Meal 4, and Meal 7 are always the same food.

Anyways about once a year I start to gag and throw up when I eat that certain food. Right now it's tuna fish, I have been eating a tuna fish sandwich and an apple for my 4th meal every day for the past 3 years, and now every time I smell tuna or taste it I gag, when I try to eat it I almost throw it up and usually can't finish it. It happened about a year ago with eggs. If I was able to get my 10 eggs down in the morning it wasn't but 10-15 minutes I would puke it up. I took about a week off of eggs and went back and everything has been fine since. I'll do the same with tuna and probably be good for another year.

Just curious if this happens to any of you guys, I guess it applies more so to the people who have been dieting or lifting for a while.

:werd: I can't really eat cooked eggs anymore unless its cooked in shitloads of butter and made into an overflowing omelet of some sort.

Never to the extent that I've thrown up after i've gotten it down, though.

about a year and half ago, there was sale on tilapia, I think it was about 79cents a pound. i bought about 75 pounds. I ate it everyday till I had about 5 pounds left. Start to feel sick and even now I can't stand the smell of it.

I get like this sometimes too. After eating a certain meals for months and months on end my body just doesn't have a taste for it anymore and just the thought of eating it kills my appetite and if I do eat it I have to force myself and usually end up with nausea. This is the point where I stop eating it.
Then, when I stop eating it, I will go maybe 2 weeks without eating that food and then I can start again and it's all good.

This has happened to me with:
    - Eggs
    - Oats
    - Chicken Breast

Just stop eating the tuna/apple for 2 weeks and bet you can start eating it again no problem by the end.

polliquin says you can develop food allergies if you eat a certain food too much. He recommends not eating that food for several months then you should be back to normal (not sure how many months but i think it was 4-6). Not only are you throwing it up/gagging on it, but most likely you aren't absorbing the nutrients in it either

I replaced tuna with canned chicken a few months back for this very reason.

I switch to another protein source before getting sick. I've made the tuna+rice special and took a few bites before dumping it. Same with whey, I tend to switch brands from time to time.

Yeah, this is why I always try to keep myself stocked with different things to switch it up.

For breakfast I'll do eggs and oats for a while but before I get sick of that I'll switch the protein up with whey or lean ham. I'll also switch the carb up with whole wheat bagels or fruit instead of the oats.

Same for meat proteins. I keep a variety of ground beef, steak, chicken, ground turkey, tuna fillet around to keep myself from getting sick of stuff and not being able to eat it.

It sucks when you make a huge meal then realize when you begin to eat it that you're sick of it and have no appetite for it.... And if you force feed you may just end up feeling sick all day.

I also cycle ON whey flavors between chocolate and banana creme to keep things lively.

just swap out when you start feeling it cause it could be something your growing allergic too and if thats the case you potentially could get worse and worse each time but you may just be getting sick of eating the same shit over and over without at least a lil variety everyonce in a while if your that strict on your diet

Interesting, any way you could find a link to the article about this?

I searched all over T-nation but couldn't find anything, thanks.
