Anyone have any suggested places for third party repairs? I'm dying without my 40D. Didn't have it all summer and it sucks! Now that fall is upon us, I'd like to get some seasonal photos. Let me know!

I spoke with one of their people and they said it's a minimum of $280 for them to look at it and determine what's wrong, and if it's a minimum repair, then it would be taken care of with that money. If it's more, they'll charge me more for it. I can't afford to send it to them and have them tell me it's $600 to repair or something.

$280 is about the normal price of the 3rd party repair

I know the shop I work at sends in Canon's for a flat repair fee of something like $240 + $20 shipping.

I was just curious about CameraRepair.com which states that if it's more than I want to pay, then it's only $10 to decline it and ship it back. I don't know, I'd rather pay $10 to find out it's actually $600 to repair than $280 to know it's going to be an extra $320 or something

Won't turn on at all. In June, I went to grab it for an event, tried turning it on, wouldn't turn on. figured it was a dead battery. Got home, tried another one fully charged, still didn't turn on. Tried cleaning contacts, removing the lens and putting it back on, I've tried everything I can. No power to the camera at all.
