for a non IS and a 17-40 f/4L
wonder if i can find someone to trade with
you dont like / need the IS? or you just dont like $1700 lenses?
so you're going to trade your 1700 dollar lens for a 600 dollar lens?
no, i'm going to trade it for a non IS version of the 70-200mm f/2.8L AND the 17-40
i dont use the IS enough to keep it. i rarely have a shutter speed low enough. i'd rather have a wide angle L. right now i've got a tamron 28-75 f/2.8
i always say IS is a waste of money
its not a waste of money if you use it. its invaluable. i just dont use it as much as i did when i first got it
how bout instead of switching to a non-is 2.8, switch to a f/4is? they're around the same price as the non is 2.8 and plus that thing's sharp as hell.
b/c i'd rather have the larger aperture than IS. some stuff i shoot will be @f/3.5 or so and moving. if i use a larger aperture it keeps me steady but the subject will be blurred
i just took pictures of the glass. i guess its time to put everything up on fm and see if anyone wants to trade. if i get someone to trade i'm going to sell my tamron 28-75 f/2.8 too
wtf!? fred miranda makes you subscribe to post in the buy/sell forum now?
i put a feeler up on potn
ill buy you a brand new 17-40 for your 70-200?
and find a used 70-200mm f/2.8L and its yours
ok so i've got a guy wanting to trade me his 70-200mm f/2.8L and $550 for my IS
yeah, you can pick up a used 17-40L for 500... but honestly I'd go with a 10-22 instead
yeah it sounds good.. i got a 17-40 f/4L for $480 shipped before. sold it. not wide enough on my 1.6x 30D. went with the 10-22 instead. much better. id only get the 17-40 if i was going full frame.
i thought about that b/c i have a tamron 28-75 f/2.8.
yeah i may just take the money and try to find a 10-22
how do i go about saying..."send me your lens and a mo and i'll send you mine"
send me your lens and a mo and i'll send you mine.. NOW.
Pretty much, he contacted you about the ad. He's comfortable with it obviously, so he can send his "money" (lens and $$) for your goods.
woot woot! hes going to pay the paypal fee and ship me the lens, then i'm going to ship him mine. the production code is the same year as mine, too.
whats the best way to test this lens when i get it? i know to use it, but whats the best way to compare the sharpness
you run your finger across the lense, if it cuts you, then its sharp enough! i kid.
