That new compact grip is kinda cool!

Its going to cost me $180 to swap but its shorter grip and packing a bigger round.

Whats the consensus? This is a carry gun

I don't personally care for the XD's, but I'd say go for it!
Do you lose some capacity or is it still 10 rnds?

*Edit* Don't bother, I just looked it up and answered my own question.
So in that case, you dont lose capacity... DEFINITELY do it. Not that there's anything wrong with 9mm though.

    Personal opinion.

    Shot placement > Caliber size.

Is your XD9 a carry gun for you? If not, then this won't be either. The XD45 C is almost the same size as a standard XD Service in the other calibers.

I feel the same way. Thats why I went with a 9mm, In the unfortunate event that I ever do have to use it and might have to shoot w/only one hand, I would like as much control as possible.

Its not like a +P 9mm round cant take a grown human being down. Of course it can. Its extremely effective. And cost effective as well. You'll get more distance and accuracy from a 9mm too. But there's no denying the .40 and .45's stopping power up close. Its just that in 99.8% of the cases where you'll ever need to fire your handgun, you wont NEED anything more than 9mm.

I posted a link a week or so ago about an old man (upper 70's) that shot an intruder from his bed, in the dark, with an old ass rickety .22 rifle. One shot killed the intruder. Now tell me shot placement doesn't matter. LOL.

Oh, and btw, its not like I'm anti-.40 or anti-.45. I just feel practicing shot placement with any size caliber is still greater than guess-shots with a .45.

Beat me to it. The 45C isn't really all that small. It's a nice gun, don't get me wrong.

I would personally stay w/ the 9, but I am not going strong either way.

I own both, and my Glock 21 is by far my favorite handgun, but with the price of ammo going up monthly I'm starting to appreciate 9mm a whole lot more these days.

    1. Pull the trigger. It goes bang. Hit the right spot the first time.

    2. What are you getting at? :wiggle:

Caliber debates are stupid, you could be carrying a Smith 500 and it won't mean shit if you can't hit anything with it.

That's why I'm preaching shot placement.
You could shoot a spitball through a straw and still debilitate someone if you hit them in the eye.

People need to get off the thought process of "the bigger the balls, the better. The bigger the engine the better. The bigger the caliber the better."
In motorcycle racing, a great rider on a 600cc bike could kick the snot out of a good rider on a 1000cc bike. Its the same concept with guns. Its your ability, not the fucking bullet size.

Now, with that said... once you've established your ability to shoot properly and accurately, you can choose the caliber that suits you best.

It is highly UNrecommended, by professionals in both of those scenarios, to buy the biggest and the baddest and THEN try to learn how to use it properly.

It is always recommended to start smaller and learn fundamentals first.
Buy a 250cc dirt bike, learn the basics. Then buy a 600cc sportbike. Then 5 years down the road buy a 1000cc sportbike.

With guns, start out with a 9mm, practice at the range, take some classes.
Then move up to a .40 or so... then a .45.

Of course these are just recommendations. But the experts that have been around and doing it for years, arent going to tell a newbie to go out and buy a $1,500 1911 in .45. They're going to tell them to buy a Glock 17 9mm and practice for a year or two.

I need to stop rambling. :ugh2:

Its very difficult to shoot a handgun at a moving, much less moving AND flying, target. :o
Plus, why would you be shooting at Superman? He's a good guy!

That was the point of this thread. Now why are we beating the dead shot placement horse?
