you need to set a budget and decide what you are going to do with it.

You aren't going to want to compete with a safe queen and throw her around after spending thousands. When you could've spent less than half just to plink around with and have got the same result.

I would use a muzzle break instead of a flash suppressor, but that is personal preference.

And if you want, but not necessary:

KNS Take Down Pins - I like them a lot more than the regular pins
KNS Anti-Rotational Pins - Not necessary, but if you go for a drop in trigger it will be necessary.

Budget is key- though with some smart shopping you can build a nice rifle for as much as an OK rifle.

    1) Lower- for the most part pick your rollmark
    2) Lower Parts Kit
    3) Buffer tube, spring, buffer- try to go with milspec
    4) Stock- Magpul CTR
    5) Bolt Carrier Group- Buy a complete upper probably your first time
    6) Upper- LMT, LMT or ummm LMT! There are other options out there, I happen to like LMT though
    7) Barrel- see above
    8) Gas Tube-
    9) Gas Block
    10) Flash Suppressor- most assembled uppers will have one, there are upgrades like a tac-16 or m42000
    11) Iron Sights
    12) Optics

Only other thing I'd add is upgrade your grip at least to a Hogue, or a MIAD. The standard A2 grip sucks.

That looks like a Krebs sight tower :o

Edit: The most important thing you can have is an idea of what you want it to look like. That will save you a bunch of money on shipping/return costs. Make a list of what parts you want, and buy when they come on sale or are shipped free.

if you're going to just build a plinker, buy the cheapest lower you can find. The specs it was machined for on that kind of lower are all pretty much standardized mil-spec.

You can definitely get a decent plinker riffle for 600-700. Although it might be more cost effective and time efficient to look around locally for some deals. It'll beat all the headache and trouble of having to put it together yourself if you run into any problems.

too bad you didnt jump on the cmmg bargain bin rifles for 570, they ended the deal recently

but if you are gonna assemble one of your own, may i suggest an anvil arms stripped lower receiver, i dont have one but if i were to assemble my own i'd get one, i've heard nothing but good things about them, and its only $100 with free engraving http://www.anvilarms.com/pc-36-19-stripped-lower-receiver.aspx
