    Quick notes:

Currently have a '99 M3 dinan throttle body, dinan exaust, dinan cold air intake, dinan stage 2 down load with about 55K miles on it

Thinking of getting a new STI. Probably a deal on a '06

Things I like about the M3
-Paid cash for it so no car payments
    -Decent gas mileage
    -Good looks
    -5 speed
    -fun to drive

    Things I don't like about the M3
    -Getting dated
-Leather inside is getting cracked because of age
-Expensive maintenance (even just for parts, I can work on it myself for the most part)
-Eats oil like a muther fucker
-240HP isn't really a lot anymore, even with the mods

Things I like about the STI
    -New, new warranty
    -All wheel drive
    -Relatively Inexpensive
    -300HP
    -Still decent gas mileage

Things I don't like about the STI
    -Ricer horrible looking rear wing
    -Gaudy blue interior
    -4 door
    - Add about $5K to the price tag to get the limited edition model that doesn't have the wing and interior
-Every one and their brother has a WRX

    i chose keep.
    -avoid more fiancial problems
-still a sexy car overall and would look good with the right wheels
-use that money toward rent/housing (which is more important than a car imo)
-assuming insurance would be cheaper considering its 99' to a 06 sports sedan
-better gas mileage overall. will save you more in the long run

it looks like you want a true performance car if im correct?

I've always wanted to drive an STI. How much are you looking to spend if you get rid of the M3? "Other" is too general cause some people might say go get a Lotus Elise or something

The M3 will hold its value a lot better and the front end on a '06 STI is FUGLY.

But the AWD would be kick ass...

    I'd keep the M3

Do you have any pics of said M3?

I'm not getting the EVO for 2 reasons
    1. Warranty problems that the dealer has been giving people. Saying they're racing them etc..
    2. Don't like the looks at all, looks cheap to me.

Mojo: I like your way of thinking, I do need to save for a house as they are about $450K min. for a condo out here

I don't really want to spend more than about $35K since I have to keep it parked on the street and don't really want a $70K brand new M3 sitting out doors all the time getting messed up.

I'll post some pics when I get home from work. Thanks for all your imput.

I would vote to keep the M3 even though maintenance is going to assrape you.

save the money for something worthwhile and not on a depreciating "asset" such as a car.

Negative, I like a car that can do well in the twisties and doesn't just win the quarter mile race by .01 seconds.

i say keep the M3 until it really starts to give you major maintenance problems. you're saving on the no car payment thing bigtime. 240hp isn't much for this category anymorre now that you have accords and camry's putting up the same power for less (albeit not in the same league of course). but the car is still very respectable, very fun car to drive and much classier too than the subaru. 55k miles on a 7, almost 8 year old car ain't bad at all. i'd keep the M3.

You're going to trade a BMW for a Suby? What the hell is wrong with you?

    1. 240hp is more than you can ever use on an American highway anyway;
    2. Oil is not as expensive as a new car;
    3. The Camry is not a BMW, so its horsepower rating is meaningless;
    4. Use leather lotion more often, and leave the windows cracked on sunny days.

Thanks for the feed back everyone.

I absoutley HATE using that stupid leather conditioner stuff. It looks like i'll keep the M3 for now unless I can get a super good deal on the STI, but from what I hear they pretty much go for $32,000 for everyone.

Do you hate using soap, too? Leather is skin -- you have to maintain it. Christ, it's not that hard to rub lotion on the seats every couple of months.

Save your money man, having no debt > debt on a depreciating "asset" sucks.

It ties your money up in the future when you need to buy something big.

I've been down that road already, but with the E36 about 5 years ago.

It is a good analogy. Apparently it never occurred to you that leather has to be maintained. BMW can't do anything about that, to make it better -- skin is skin, and if you want it you're just going to have to put up with its quirks.

I picked other and was going to say Evo, but then I saw you said you didn't like them(that makes one...)

So, I'd say keep the M3.
