As I'm nearing the end of my second enlistment with the Corps, and spending a good amount of time being shot at and people trying to blow me up for the last 4.5 months, I've realized that this whole war effort isn't really for me. At least not with this branch of service. I've had a lot of thoughts about cross-decking over to the AF. Shorter deployments, better standadrds of living, bases within 100 miles of my home town, little to no chance of enguaging in combat again. And an over all better standards of living. Before i get in contact with a prior service recruiter, anyone got any tips or advice?

    I have 3 MOS's-

    6531- Aviation Ordnance
8251- Basic Security Guard (Marine Corps Security Forces)
    8531- Marksmanship Instructor/PMI

I've also been to many specialty schools:

    USMC Designated Marksman Course
SCG- Smith Consulting Groups High threat security detail course
EPI- Executive Protection Institute personal security detail course
BSR- Barrett Scott Racing- High Threat convoy driving course

I've considered just being Ordnance for the AF, or even a Raven. But the Army, Navy and Marines are definatly out. I'm done with 6-8 month deployments every year, being stationed in the armpits of america and being pissed on because its "cool to be hard" in the corps. My family makes a hugh sacrifice every time I'm gone and I'm seeing wayyy to many fathers/friends and brothers go home in boxes without all of their body parts.

I hear ya. And Army wouldn't help in that area at all. Their deployments are for 12-18 months! :noes:

It couldn't hurt to talk with an Air Force 'crooter. Then post what they tell you here and we can help you digest the BS from the facts. :x:

well from what i remember, the air force wasnt taking any prior service members, they just dont have time for them. in any branch PS is the lowest mission the recruiters are assigned, if they have one for them at all. every branch is mainly looking for grad alphas.
