i think i can shoot well enough with most guns to pursue one make/model and get better.

    ones ive considered:

    beretta 92
    glock 19
    USP compact
    1911a1
    sig 228/229

my budget is roughly $500 (i know some of those guns are more). what would OT recomend? i know to go with what i like the most, and to be honest berettas, H&Ks, and sigs all feel great in my hand.

also, has anyone here done IDPA? tips and tricks :x:?

Do you have a gun you shoot or carry now? I always figured if/when I have money to shoot some IPDA I'll just shoot whatever gun I normally carry including my IWB rig. Unless you're going into it for the pure gaming fun aspect.

the thing is, im not yet 21 (turn 20 in jan.) so im looking into how i can shoot IDPA with a pistol that isnt mine i.e. parents gun. i'd be doing it for fun, but i also want to have a serious attitude about it.

PT, what do you mean by class? The closest thing to "class" that i found on IDPA's website is if i want to do self defence scenarios or standard excercises :dunno:

SigPros are nice guns. They've got a good trigger, they're not too heavy, the 2022s have a standard accessory rail, cheap mags are easy to find and most of the major holster makers make holsters for them.

I too am thinking of getting into practical shooting. I have the gun, a sig 228, but now i'm having trouble finding places to train, or places that actually hold events. Does anyone know where i coud go to find out when and where events are held?

A buddy of mine has been trying to get me into IDPA as well....I didn't realize there were different classes!

You have a good list of guns to choose from; have you considered the S&W M&P?
