    here's why:

right now im at the presidio of monterey learning a language that not very many people know. At some point I want to work for the FBI or CIA but not as an analyst, i want to be in the field so I'm thinking I'm it would be really helpful to get some weapons training especially if i can eventually get Ranger ect.

Now I know before you can even apply for Ranger you have to have at least a year in infantry but my question is with all the training i've gotten here...would the army even let me do something like that??

thoughts? (yes, i know alot of people are going to say i'm stupid for considering this ) :o

If you are still in tech school, I am pretty sure that you have zero chance of being accepted into the Blue to Green program. Your current branch has too much $$ tied up in you right now to just let you walk away.

:werd: I doubt they'd let a linguist just leave for another branch. Not like you can be easily replaced.

Especially since you said a language not many know. If anything about you is considered 'critical' you'll never be approved for the program.

what do you mean by that?

Currently i think there are about 100 or so people in the army that know the language...probably about 50 that are able to get TS clearance

i'm sure SF have a need for the language though

Lemme back up, you're in navy or air force? Didn't know AF had a 'blue to green' however the navys blue to green is go warrant officer in the army and fly helos, thats it, when your warrent contract is up you go back to being enlisted if they dont want you. It also requires you to be at the end of your contract.

i meant army special forces. you don't need another language for af special operations. but, from what i understand, you need one for army special forces.

af has blue to green. you need two years in af and be able to have three years retainability in the army to do it. not much else besides that. you can either get a new job, or if the army has your current job, slide right over.

Blue 2 Green was implement for both Air Force and Navy...the "blue" services....and the Navy's blue 2 green isn't limited to Warrants, matter of fact, the foundation of the B2G program is enlisted to enlisted....just taking fine Airmen/Sailors and turning them into Soldiers. Also your other information is incorrect, you do not go back to enlisted once you fulfill your obligation, nor do you have to be at the end of your contract.

Go ahead, ask me how I know all of this...

If you do the warrant program you most definatly lose your "commission" after your initial warrant contract is up.
