MIL Thinking of enlisting

  1. In the AF reserves. I was wondering about seeing combat in Iraq though. I'm very hygiene conscious so it takes me 10-20 mins every morning to get ready. Will there be times in training or anywhere that will require me to get out of bed without brushing or taking a morning dump? In combat will I have to shit on the ground without TP?

Yea I just heard last year they actually got toilets for combat zones. Before this it was just a big shit pile and they would burn it. They do have to ration out the TP so you might have to adapt your ass wiping method to utilize the TP to the fullest extent.

No, they'll give you all the time you need in training.

If you're ever deployed, they'll be sure to make sure there's a pot-a-potty waiting with new TP, freshly cleaned AND with a full Purel brand hand sanitizer dispenser for your convenience. :wiggle:

  5. What about in the movies where they wake you up at 5am and you have 30 seconds to get ready? Does that happen? :hs:

5 AM, no. I was never woken up at 5 am.

30 seconds? no, you get more than that.

    Don't worry about it.

    Never.

I've always gotten at least 8 hours of sleep a night and have never had to rise before 7:30am. And I've never had less than an hour to get ready, usually 2 hours if there was an inspection.

I didn't tell any lies :mamoru:

    0345 is not 0500

120 seconds to getup, get dressed, shave, pee, and get in formation is way more than 30 seconds.

just think of it this way.

all of the things you're most worried about will be the things you're least worried about when you find yourself in that situation.

No, I never had time to shave or go to the bathroom.

We were not allowed to wake up early, they stood outside the door waiting utill reville payed and scouted us out at night to make sure we were not out of bed unless it was an extreme bathroom emergency.

I woke up early every day in BMT for the Air Force....

I'd be all ready to go with my bed made while everyone was running around like chickens with their heads cut off.

and you won't shit for your first 2-3 weeks in BMT.

Combat? I dunno, in my time I never deployed or TDY once. There are certain jobs you can find that rarely deploy. You could probably scout some info out from the base that you are thinking of joining the reserves at. Don't become a cop. I can't repeat that one enough.

    Any jobs that interest you?

    :wtf:

Didn't you train in the 90s? You're in the Army, right?

On my BMQ we'd have to get up at 5, PT at 5:15, usually lights out at 11:00, and during the field very very little sleep, bugouts at night, etc...
