I got a friend that has a mac but she doesnt use it. How much is it worth?

This Apple iMac "DV" SE (Special Edition), based on the Kihei architecture, features a 400 MHz PowerPC 750 G3 processor, 512MB of RAM, a 13.0 GB hard drive, a slot-loaded 4X DVD-ROM drive, ATI Rage 128 VR 2D/3D graphics acceleration, and a Harman/Kardon designed sound system in a sleek, translucent all-in-one case with a 15" color screen. The iMac "DV" SE (400), is housed in the revised case of the iMac "350", but is translucent graphite, and like the iMac "DV" includes FireWire and video-out ports.

$400 maybe? I dunno, consider that you can get a G4 iBook for $1000 or a cheap G4 eMac for ~$900. for fucking around with linux and other shit it's ok, it's an ok web browser under OS X with lots of RAM but I wouldn't consider doing any heavy lifting with it.

$400 would be very generous... check eBay, I'm too lazy right now but I bet a machine like that would go for about $300-$350 on eBay. I personally wouldn't pay a cent over $300... it's just too old to pay any more than that.

It's not even worth the $300. You can get G3 Dual-USB iBooks for $500 now

The ebay range seems to be from $150 - $350. I would run it in OS9. I have 2 labs of 36 of those at my job running OS9. They have been rock solid reliable even though 300 12-14 years olds us them everyday.
