Now that I am in love with that Mosin Nagant 91/30 I can't wait to get my hands on another. I was thinking maybe the Lee Enfield. The M1 Carbine and Garand are a little bit more than what I want to spend ATM. I'm thinking around $100-$500. any suggestions?:x:

cmp dont do garands anymore so the prices are going to keep going up, better off spending a little more then you want now, then alot more later. K98 would be good choice not to expensive ($199) and ammo's not to bad, enfields are nice but ammo's drying up.

if you want something a little rarer than average, I would say go with the Carcano, Arisaka, or a K-31. I think your best bet is to go to a gun show and pickup one there, since you won't see them in shops in my experience.

If you want to shoot it I'd skip the arisaka unless you get one thats been converted to something else the ammo is $1+ a round.

    true :o

That is the problem with getting something that isn't as common, ammo issues. Carcano looks to be about as much...so 7.5 could be considered cheap

I went to a gun show this weekend and the prices were horrible. My dad picked up a super Comanche 45/410 for around $150 a few months ago and at the show they were $250:ugh2:. I am going to an auction this weekend were they will have a few rifles. One of this will be a enfield. The center of this auction will not be about the rifles so if 1. the right people show up(people not interested in the rifle:mamoru:) or 2. Only a few people show up. I may be able to get away with a steal and end up buying K98 too.

:hsugh: CMP is selling more garands starting in october, but you won't find garands for $500 from CMP, online auctions, pawn shops, or gun shows.

also i forgot to mention M1917's which are basically SMLE's chambered in .30-06 but they are from ww1.

My grandfather has an arisaka. I thought about shooting it until I saw how much the ammo was.

got 100 a couple of months ago and shipping was 13 bucks i think. so you are at 12 bucks for 20. people act like 7.5 is so expensive. seems like a decent price to me

how long you plan on shooting? You can get started for less than 100 bucks as far as room, all you need is a coffee table.

of course once you start for one caliber you will reload for everything
