i don't have any tattoos but i kind of want one. i saw this coffe table book about tattoos, most of them were words. i was looking around the net for some cool latin phrases and i saw this one:

    compos sui
which means master of himself or something along those lines

thinking about having it below my neck. yeah? other suggestions?

either that or star wars rebel and imperial logos on my shoulders.

    Go to www.bmezine.com

Look around, read the experiences people have written, and think about it for a few months.

I have "Ne te quaesiveris" on the inside of my arm. Good if you like Emerson's essay on self-reliance.

if you want to get all latin nazi technical, that's taken out of context. roughly it means (in) control of self. usually it's used in legal-ese as non compos mentis; which means insane.

English is such a hodgepodge you can't say one way or another; yes, technically, English is a germanic language but it's borrowed so much from so many that it doesn't really matter.

the latin phrase i have in one of my tattoos was used because

    a) there wasn't an english word or phrase to really sum up the meaning
    b) it was short, and fit nicely into the design
    c) it sounded nice

long as you're comfortable with the decision you make, that's all that matters - it's your body and nobody else's
