Guys, I've been thinking about getting rid of my XD40 for a M&P 9mm compact or G19 for some time now.

Especially since ammo prices have sky rocketed at wally world.

What do yall think I should really do? How much do you think I'd get for it?
It's a 4" service. About 2K rounds through it, fiber optic front sight, no wear on the finish.

I honestly havent shot it at the range in over a month. It just stays loaded at home in my nightstand.

I traded my XD40 in two years ago for a Glock 19 and have never looked back.

I think you need to actually shoot the glock you like and the m&p. Glocks aren't my thing but I'd take one over a damn m&p anyday. Also look into the barrel thing. Efk or barsto makes a great barrel. If you put a barrel in it, the gun would outshoot anything you have listed.

There are plenty of threads over at XDtalk.com about barrel conversions. Look into them before you make a final decision. I read too many bad things on M&P reliability.

If you still wanna sell it let me know what you want for it.

I want one, but not if its gonna be unreliable. I shot an XD recently and actually liked it better than i thought i would. I have a G19 and love it!

ive had my efk 9mm conversion barrel for 1.5 years. its saved me alot of ammo money, more than paid for itself, and i dont have one negative thing to say about it. its never given me a single problem. ive never had to use either barrel in self defense, but i think its safe to say that either one would be just as reliable.

You need more the the conversion barrel. You need to change the ejector and the extrator too. At least you do on the glock and I assume the xd is the same.

The last bit is the breach face. When you go from 40 to 9 the only thing holding the case is the extrator. Kind of hit or miss depending on the gun.

i only have the barrel, ive never heard of needing ejector/extractor. and i have the same gun as the op. xd40 4 inch service. all i do is swap out the barrel and everything is ready to go. but i dont have a glock....yet. so i wouldnt know about those.

That's all relative to how much you shoot. If you only put 100 rounds a month, than yeah, not that much.

But if you want to shoot at least 1k a month, there's a considerable amount of difference.

actually i use the 9mm mags...forgot about that. they feed fine.

i also use the 33 round magazines from cheaperthandirt. when i shoot them they feed fine but sometimes my friends have problems.

Cool! Sounds pretty simple. You can get away with that with a Glock, but others have noted it spotty, unless you swap out the extractor and ejector. Nice to hear it's working out well for you.
