I dont want the repair costs of the 951, and handling is more imporant then speed to me. He said he replaced the timing chain and water pump i dont know about the clutch

That 944 is getting pretty close to higher mileage 911 prices, something you would consider also? I think you can get a decent 911(early) for around 10K.

Lower price initially, but more miles means more repairs.

Can't argue with that. The only reason I suggested it was due to resale. I think that a 911 will hold its value better than a 944. I have never driven a 944 but I have been in one. They are nice cars, however if I got one it would be for track use only. A benefit to a 911 would be that an aircooled model has a couple less pieces involved in cooling. Try searching for 911SC models on ebay if you even want to consider a 911 just to humor it. Otherwise get that 944 it looks pretty clean to me.

The only thing I'd say against it is that its not that powerful.. Alot of stock smaller cars will take it in a straight line(stock 1/4 mile is in the low 16s range I think).

I'd personally look into a similar year turbo, but the purchase(and maintenance) cost will be substantially higher.

Does anyone have any other good suggestions for cars? It has to a manual and RWD, and no more then 6 cylinders, and under 10G.
Also the car has to have a fair amount of room. Any one know how big the MR2 storage space is?

    early boxsters are getting cheap.

two boots, and cabin is pretty big for a two seater.

plus they handle amazingly and have great reliability - theyre porsches.

and after all the mr2 is just a boxster copy.

it was. i was referring to the very boxster like model from around 6 years ago. obviously the 92 mr2 didnt look like a boxster.

also you can get a boxster conversion kit for an mr2, but not vice versa.

I bought an 86 with 103k miles on it for 6k back in 98. Car was absolutely mint with brand new koni adjustables, new clutch, and new timing belt. Price is pretty high for a NA.

I picked up an 87 951 with 74k miles for 7300. That NA 944 is too much

waaaay too much. You can get a Turbo for a little more and get more in the end. The 944 front end is too ugly...
