    UAS Sensor Operator

Any of you familiar with this?

The only drawback seems to be the duty stations: Creech, Cannon, and Holloman.

    Holloman wouldn't be too bad.

Creech isn't bad. Easy access to a lot of outdoor activities and Vegas. Plus, good weather.

A lot of those operators suffer from PTSD due to their jobs. Apparently flying a UAS all day and killing people, then going home and taking the kids to soccer practice is hard to deal with.

the drive to Creech would suck from vegas every day....fucked an intel girl that did it and said it sucked.

plus Cannon ftl man. Least you get to stay warm, how many years left?

Why not look into something you could use in the outside more....unless you wanna stick with comm shit

Civilians do a lot of UAS flying, and make good money doing it.

    I'm tired of COMM.

I am working on my private pilot's license. I would like to be a civilian pilot, being a sensor operator might help land a job around planes.

Ellington Field (Houston) is another place where these operators go if you decide to join the Guard. I've thought about it since Houston is home.

When does the crosstraining list come out? Would First termers have a good chance of crosstraining even though their window has passed?

    the deployments or job?

sucks as not everyone is 6on6off...some guys have been home over a year and I just keep getting hosed though we only have 3 7 levels here and E2 always gets two tasking and E1 usually gets skipped over.

we keep swapping people around so they go and I stll get hosed.

not sure if it matters if you are in a AFSC that is overmanned. If you are a first termer it depends on what year you are in your org enlistment

for 4 years its 35 months I believe.

    Bunch of pussies.

The way the unmanned aircraft's cameras enable them to see people getting killed in high-resolution detail, some officers say.
In a fighter jet, "when you come in at 500-600 mph, drop a 500-pound bomb and then fly away, you don't see what happens," said Col. Albert K. Aimar, who is commander of the 163rd Reconnaissance Wing here and has a bachelor's degree in psychology. But when a Predator fires a missile, "you watch it all the way to impact, and I mean it's very vivid, it's right there and personal. So it does stay in people's minds for a long time."

They should be kicked in the teeth for even complaining about their mission.

Well as an avid BF2 Player and TV missle master I loved watching the missle blast a dude right in the FACE as I loved to TV people in the face.

So where do I sign up for this job? Id live in vegas banging sugar moma ladies and playing cards when I am off.

Yeauup. I remember reading this article in Stars and Stripes. The massive amount of response letters to this were really hilarious. Especially the people that wrote back in defense of the operators.

I could see where it would mess you up if you are watching the screen and right before impact you see a little kid skip by.

    No kids = no worries.

I was in a briefing with 3 0-6s yesterday and they said the same thing .
ALOT of PTSD problems they are pretty much looking straight into there eyes before they go Boom and they do it everyday with no time to get counselling like if they were deployed and came home.

The job isnt what people think it is. It might become a 1 year "detail".

I wish I could go home to my nice warm bed and hang out with my family after blowing someone up.

Good thing in the Apache targets just look like blobs, and not actual people. :hsugh:
