You can do better than that for $1400.....
I'll find you a laptop with the same (if not better specs) for $1000. Give me a day or so.

my mom has one. it's pretty sweet, but buy it from dell outlet for half that price.

the led screen is awesome. if you're gonna do video or photo editing, the tiny size of the touchpad will probably be annoying.

hmmm.....LED screens? Might be time for a new laptop pretty soon :hsd:. When I bought my laptop the monitor was basically the only factor in the decision (hardware is all the same in any of them). I went w/ the Vaio (Xbrite I think :dunno:)....was the nicest screen I could find at the time, in my price range at least

I would see if you can get a higher res screen, 1280x800 isn't that great for photo editing, I know dell has screens that are 1440x900, 1680x1050 and 1920x1200.

Cool, thanks! One thing to note is that I'm from Ireland and going by the dell irish store, laptops are a lot cheaper in the US.

The dell irish outlet store has pretty much nothing in it :(
I hate touchpads, is it much smaller than regular ones?

I'm trading off size vs. resolution, I could try and get the Studio 17 which would give me 1440x900 for the same price, there is a CCFL 1900 x 1200, but I've heard it's better to get LED, and I'm not too crazy about a 17". I'd like a smaller one.

touchpad is smaller than they used to be. it's too small for me. almost all dells have small touchpads now. if they'd release the mini 12 with an LED screen and a bigger touchpad, I'd be all over that
